History of Aqua-Golf®
Aqua-Golf was conceived in the fall of 1996 when its inventor Dean Peabody, a building contractor was installing a deck around a below ground swimming pool. During lunch he would chip golf balls into a floating inner tube. The inner tube was soon replaced by a 3' x 5' kidney shaped floating piece of foam. This worked very well except the balls wouldn't stick, and of course real golf balls presented a danger around people and windows. Velcro® covered Wiffle® balls came to mind and a suitable floating green allowing the Velcro® to stick were found after much trial and error. A flag was added along with a chipping mat to chip from the edge of the deck. The game was now complete.

Production took place in the family garage with the Velcro® being hand wrapped around the balls in the family room. Once the game took off and sales started coming from all directions: catalogs, retail stores, distributors and exporters, a means had to be found to manufacture the game on a larger scale.

Brother James Court, a Franciscan Brothers Development Center, located in Springfield, IL was contacted and production of the balls was started. Soon several other development centers were producing the hand wrapped Velcro® covered balls and Brother James Court was responsible for placing all the components in the package and shipping. Each and every game of Aqua-Golf requires approximately 15 workers in order to get it ready to ship. We've shipped Aqua-Golf to every state and many parts of the world. Aqua-Golf and the men of Brother James Court thank you for your interest.
